Spring Cleaning Essentials
Now that summer is around the corner, and you wish to enjoy the sun and sand, it is the right time to initiate spring cleaning so that you are free to enjoy and relish summers. Although, for most of the working lot, cleaning happens to be the most annoying chore, for they prefer sleeping over the weekend to relieve fatigue, but once you are done with it, you are free for the entire summer!
For me, it’s not much of a task because I stay at one of the Philadelphia Apartments, which has been more or less well maintained. But still, every spring I kick off the cleaning task at my house. I start off with the most messed up area of my apartment i.e. the cupboard. It is one place, which is always cluttered with dirty clothes, old clothes, ‘have been using’ clothes and a whole lot of accessories. So, first, I remove everything from the cupboard and put it down on the floor. I organize things and stack them accordingly. Once that is done, I clean the shelves thoroughly.
Philadelphia apartments have inbuilt spacious cupboards with multiple sections, so it is easy to arrange and stack things by classifying them in various categories. I have to just place the clothes in the allocated section of the cupboard and that’s it, half of my ‘spring cleaning’ is over!
The second half includes cleaning the walls, ceilings, window panes, furnishings and of course the toilet. But, it is actually a cake walk! Why? Well, thanks to the special coated wall papers used in Philadelphia apartments that allow absolutely no dust to settle down anywhere. So, I am left with practically no work but to clean the toilet which requires nothing but an antibacterial to be poured and flushed. I am done with spring cleaning!

Decorate Your Small Space Western Style
You might think that because you live in a small space, there is no way that you can decorate without your apartment looking cluttered. However, this is not true. If you are perhaps looking to increase the value of your property, then Fort Worth Property Management companies would help you to figure out how to go about doing so, such as redecorating, and because you are in Texas why not go for a rugged western style apartment that feels like you are living on a ranch when you actually live in the city.
Living in a small space means that you can’t have too many decorative pieces and much of your furniture needs to be utility pieces, but if you ensure that you have many useful storage areas that aren’t an eye sore. The idea is to keep your chosen theme throughout the apartment, make it flow from one room into the other but don’t make very room look alike because you also well defined spaces.
When choosing items to decorate with, you should try to find pieces that have a rustic feel to them; use pieces that have some sort of ranch decor such as horses and barn details. A traditional western home would be furnished with things such as leather and wood, so you should try to do the same but not go overboard. Rugs are also a great idea, especially ones with an animal print as they finish off a room perfectly, but they should not stray too far from the color scheme.
As for the color scheme, you will want to keep your colors natural but not too dark because dark colors will make the room appear smaller; choose light browns and oranges and other earthy tones. Lighting is also very important, choose lighting fixtures that are made of natural elements such as wood; this will pull the room together nicely and leave you with a perfectly rustic western feel right in your city apartment.
Personalized Office Stationary
Nothing looks better than a beautifully decorated office with matching personalized stationery to suit. To add an extra element to your office design, create your own stationery and print online. It doesn’t have to cost a fortune with online discount printing companies cropping up everywhere.
Being a professional means that you have to always be one step ahead of the others to impress clients and what better way to show off your skills and professionalism than by having personalized stationary. The great thing is that you don’t even have to spend loads of money having your stationary designed and printed when you can design it yourself and have it printed online at discount printing sites.
Perhaps one of the best perks of having personalized stationary is the fact that it can be used in the printer, so whenever you want to send out quite a few copies of a message, you don’t have to sit for hours rewriting the message on each page. When you use personalized office stationary, anyone you send letters to will be able to tell immediately that the letter is from you so that they know it is important and don’t regard it as unimportant.
While designing your stationary, you need to keep in mind that other people will be looking at it and you would want those people to be impressed by what they see, also, do you want a logo and or all your details such as your name and contact details. If you want clients to remember you, having your own personalized stationary is a great first step, they will remember seeing your lovely designed stationary and will always remember you.
You might think that having your own personalized office stationary is expensive and you couldn’t possibly afford having a professional design it all and then still have a printing company print it all for some ridiculous price. Well, the good news is you don’t have to spend loads of money, there are many online discount printing sites that will print your stationary for you at a very reasonable rate.
Decorating with your Pet in Mind
You may find it a bit hard to decorate your home while trying to make it pet friendly; you know, a convenient place for your oh-so-lovable pets to drool on your furniture, snooze on your sofa or simply loiter around on the floor. However, you just need to be a little innovative and choose the right products to get the most out of your budget.
Royal Dining
There could be any number of trays, dishes or bowls in your kitchen cupboard which you could use as adorable food dishes for your pet. Or you could hunt for inexpensive items at flea markets. My puppies, Caesar and Ronnie, love to eat in the kitchen, so I decided to create an eye-catching feeding joint for them – I placed a footed aluminum tray and topped it with maroon and white ceramic bowls for food and water. The tray not only catches spills so that they don’t end up on the floor, but it also makes the joint look attractive and adds to the ambience of the space instead of being an eyesore.
Pet Decor
You can include images of your favorite pets in your home decor. Add pillows to your sofa with the figure of a cat or dog. Or pay a tribute to your favorite pet by painting a part of your room with a collection of animal-themed artwork.
Mess Invisible
A few home decor steps can limit the mess created by your pet. To begin with, you can utilize a three-drawer cabinet in which the bottom drawer pulls out; store your pet’s eating bowls in it, and slide it in to hide the mess when some company comes over. You can use the rest of the cabinet drawers for storage of food and medicines. Long mats can be placed in front of flap doors to collect all the messy paw prints of your lovable pets. A decorative chest can be used to keep the pet toys inside to hide the mess, so that you don’t hesitate to buy more such stuff for your ‘cutie’ from PetMeds.
The Evolution of Printing Services
Whether the human species are knocked out by pestilence, comets, ice-ages, or by humankind itself via global warming; one thing remains the same; it’s often a drastic, relatively short-term catastrophe that determines who will stay and who will go. The same goes for companies, although, the catastrophes in this case are almost always financial at the end of the day.
Case in point: discount printing services. At the turn of the century, Kinko’s was at the top of its game; in a few decades it had changed, again and again, the way people thought about printing: 24 hour service, competitive prices and trailblazing user-interfaces- what had started out as a way to offer college students products and printing services at competitive prices quickly became a worldwide phenomenon for business services and consumers alike.
Following the leaps in printing and information sharing technology, an explosion of discount printing services began popping up on the internet, driving down prices through the increasingly fierce competition: Family photos ready and delivered within 24 hours, professional poster advertising and graphic design services, offering everything from letterheads to postcards; massive integration. And to make things worse for bigwigs like Kinko’s, a financial crisis. Their catastrophe had arrived.
For everything that the financial crisis has wrought upon this country, one positive to come out of it has been that businesses and common folk, alike, have been made aware of the low-cost resource of the internet. Just like Kinko’s, who incidentally re-branded its name to FedEx Office in June 2008 (Kinko’s had been bought by FedEx in 2004), the credit shortage forced companies and consumers, alike, to seek out cheaper supply chains and services.
So what does the future hold for Kinko’s/FedEx Office? Well, it all comes down to customer service. The brand can be competitive in terms of its supply chain, but the overheads involved in renting huge retail spaces, along with paying wages to their customer service employees, are high. Time will tell if they can keep their prices low enough to compete with their online counterparts in the world of discount printing.
6 Easy Credit Tips
The financial crisis has been devastating for Americans from all walks of life, except, for those working on Wall Street. One in six Americans who want a job are unable to find one. And, for the majority of those lucky enough to have steady employment, the current state of the economy is forcing ordinary Americans to rethink and, most likely, to reshuffle their personal finances in order to weather the financial storm.
For these reasons, it has never been so important to establish a good credit rating than today. Here are some tips on maximizing your credit rating, and thus, your economic freedom in these trying times.
- Check out your credit. You are entitled a free look at your credit report – lenders use these to rate your credit prospects – once a year at AnnualCreditReport.com. Use this opportunity to see how the lenders see you. Lenders use your credit report to determine your credit score, a three digit number which gauges your credit rating.
- Pay your bills on time. Late payments could haunt your credit rating for a lifetime. If you can’t pay your debts on time, then look into bill consolidation, and consolidate your debts against your equity, such as a house or car. Save yourself from an unnecessary credit life-sentence. It can take years for the effects of late payments to fade from your credit rating.
- Don’t max out! The amount of credit you use and with timely payment are the most important factors considered when calculating your credit score. If possible, don’t charge more than 30% of your credit card limit. Ideally, you shouldn’t even use more than 10%.
- Set up savings accounts. Savings and checking accounts are viewed as an indicator of stability and, depending on the fees, are essentially no-risk accounts.
- Apply for a store card. Department store charge cards are easier to get than credit cards. The only drawback is that they don’t swing as much weight for your credit rating as bank cards, but, as per usual; risk is proportionate to reward.
- Share liability and credit. By sharing an account, or having someone with a good credit rating co-sign with you on a loan, you can share in their good rating. You might even be able to get loans you wouldn’t have been offered normally. However, this decision shouldn’t be taken lightly, as your co-signor will share the liability if you default on the loan; so be careful.
Making Good Use of Area Rugs
The beauty of utilizing area rugs in home décor is that they customize easily to every taste.
They are equally easy to rearrange, replace or layer to create an entire new look.
I often keep several handy, some for everyday and some for special occasions.
Pets and children pose a dirt problem, so washable fabrics that fit in my home laundry are best.
When company comes, I change them out for versions that are more elegant. I regularly watch online store sites, keeping an eye out for affordable alternatives.
Here, I easily peruse the greatest variety and price ranges from the comfort of my desktop.

Interior Design’s Rising Star – Grant K. Gibson
There’s a new rising–star in the San Francisco world of interior design and his name is Grant K. Gibson. His specialty is creating eclectic mixtures of the old and the new for all budgets. By combining adventure, comfort and collectables with a blend of antiques he uses a modern approach that works well for small spaces.
Gibson grew up in the Hollywood Hills and learned the design business in New York. He travels to Europe on a regular basis and employs four other interior designers. By keeping his overhead low and his staff to a minimum, he can offer clients the individual attention to detail and keep the cost in line. The trick is to find inexpensive items, like $15 vintage books, pillows, and boxes that he picks up at flea markets with one or more expensive pieces—sometimes antique—sometimes from Pottery Barn. He boasts that his clients are widespread from Marin County to San Francisco, to Carmel to New York. The word has obviously gotten around.
